I'm about to renew the gearbox sprocket on my bike, and find the old one is 20t. - standard is 18t., apparently.
Anyone have any views on, or experience of running a larger sprocket - and is this desirable ?
(Our hosts list sprockets from 13 to 20t., just to make things even more interesting!)
Just a reminder that this is a Redditch Bullet with 17" wheels, etc. - Indian Bullet experience therefore doesn't count......

You say you are about to renew the g/box sprocket on your bike. That indicates that you're using the bike and therefore (to me who is the village idiot) it begs the question - how is it performing now? If you're happy with it then replace like with like is my 2 drachma. Ohter opinions will come along, hopefully from more knowledgeable folks than me!

JOHN L.THE 20 TOOTH SPROCKET IS THE CORRECT ONE. ENGINE 25 CLUTCH 56 G/BOX 20

REAR WHEEL 46 WITH AS YOU SAY 17" WHEELS. THE 18 TOOTH WAS ON 19"WHEELS.

I HAVE BOTH MODELS.

Yorkie -
Thanks very much for the info. I'll also check the rest of the gearing at the first opportunity.

To answer your perfectly reasonable question : it isn't "performing now", and the last time I rode it was such a long time ago I simply can't remember what it was like...............
Thanks guys.
