Yes, lead the tube well up behind the battery to help drain any oil back and stick a duckbill on the end. You should find a drain tube from the catch can back to behind the timing chest. This should be sealed off. You can then remove the catch can and all the associated plumbing. You might want to seal off the breather which goes from the can to the air filter in the toolbox. All this assumes the system on the Machismo is like the Classic but I believe it is. The breather actually exits from the oil tank part of the crankcase.

If you never thrash the engine or overfill the tank, the absolute basic version, which will do you fine, is this:

Image

Just a short length of the breather hose with the 90 degree bend pushed over the oil tank breather pipe's hosetail, and the short duck bill out of the breather can, joined together with a piece of 12mm tubing plus whatever clips you feel necessary. If you DO thrash or overfill you will have a some a cleaning-up to do as far as the back end of the bike is concerned.

As I like to use my Electra-X more than I like wiping oil off the back of it, I eventually replaced the duck bill with an in-line non-return valve and ran a longer bit of hose out to the back of the bike.
