Wooden brakes

I have a 1926 Enfield, and after being stored for many years the brakes seem very wooden. Any ideas? Ray.

Linseed oil.. that'll do it..
.. or you could try changing the leaf springs..

perhaps a good coat of Ronseal. (Does just as it says on the tin)

What amazes me is how they train the woodworm to bore the oilways in the engine block.
