Plumbers Tape For Everything. Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) there isn't much it won't seal. (Apart from Butane/Propane which sealants should not be on used anyway.)

I should have added, with compression joints it should be the olive, taper, or cup and ball doing the sealing, no tape or sealant should be necessary. They should seal of them-selves as they are usually brass, copper or bronze, far too many people crank them up too tight. Compression fittings for instance are from finger tight 8 mm pipe one and a quarter turns, 10 mm pipe one and a half turns. (Using locktight on the threads is of more use than tape.)

Not strictly true Loctite 572 is suitable for oil, gas and air on metal fittings. Expensive but ideal for these types of joints

But locktight is not a sealant.

I'm pretty sure Loctite make a thread sealant, I have a bottle in the shed but can't be bothered going to look at it to see the number

From Loctite's website

LOCTITE 572

LOCTITE 572 for metal, slow cure thread sealant

Note the words Thread Sealant. Jenks was looking for something to use on pipe threads

If this is a compression fitting then sealing the thread will not necessarily seal the joint. If it's a screwed joint then PTFE will be fine.
