Hi Guys, I've just dismantled one of my front fork legs to replace a rusty / pitted stanchion on my 2002 Bullet 500cc (4 speed). The fork leg assembly does not have fitted the short lower spring (pt no. 143898) which is shown in my parts catalogue and in the photo top right page 3 of Mr H's service notes on 'Fork Oil Seal and Spring Replacement'. I've had the bike from new and this is the first time the forks have been stripped so it's been like that from new. Just wanted to make sure that I need to fit this spring so I woulsd apreciate any advice. Thanks

If as you say the bike has been like that for 13 years without any problem why worry about it?.
