Hi everybody,
I have a RE Super 5 with a leadding link front fork.
Does anybody know how to take off the front fork head. Do I have to unscrew first the adjuster sleeve or can the head be taken off first? I did already unscrew the head clip bolt, but still I have some problems to get the head off.

Mr P, sorry for the delay but I've only just had time to have a look at the Super 5 forks I bought at Kempton Park back in December. You are right about how to dismantle them: remove the chromed top cap (my forks haven't got this so I'm guessing that's what it is!) then undo the Allen headed pinch bolt under the top yoke. Don't take the Allen screw all the way out, leave a few threads in place and tap it inwards to loosen the collets hidden inside the yoke. Now you should be able to unscrew the slotted sleeve which retains the top of the steering stem. This is about 2.5 inches long so needs to be withdrawn quite a long way. Once this is well loosened and you have removed the 2 bolts from the top of the fork legs you can lift off the top yoke without removing the sleeve completely, or take it out altogether if you're ready to drop the lower yoke and legs at this point. If you work out how to get the suspension units out, let me know! Hope this helps, REgards, Mark

Hi Mark,
Many thanks for your reply. It helped me a lot. Yesterday evening I got finally the top plate off. Nevertheles it was not only tapping back the Allen bolt but also there was some rust in the top plate, but together with tapping back and penetrating oil there came some movement in everything. I do have a workshop manual for the bike, but there is hardly nothing written about the dimantling of the front fork from the frame. Nevertheless I can work now further.
