Am I doing something wrong? Or it there something wrong with Tornado's dimensions?

I went to try the new see-through pushrod cover, and it seemed to tall and fouled on the bottom of the iron barrel?

Is the cover at fault, or my bullet?

I presume you have tried turning it over, otherwise, working on the principle that they have been making cylinders for all these years and see-through covers relatively recently, I would contact our hosts about it, or grind a bit off the top of the cover to make it fit.

I put one on my sidecar bike, a 500cc Bullet from 2007. I've just been out to have a look and as a rough guide for you I can get a steel rule between the top of the cover and the engine. Hope that helps,

Problem stems from the fact you trying to fit something that is CNC machined to an Indian manufactured Bullet, nuff said

OK, put it back to back with the old and presumably correctly sized tappet cover, centred on the hole in the middle, and if the new see-through cover is bigger, then you will have positively identified the problem, and Leon's advice cannot be bettered.

CNC machining is wonderful if the operator has the right dimensions entered for the component. Indian knock-offs of these covers will probably be appearing on ebay soon, anyway. In brass. Yipee, can't wait.

It’s a good question. My guess was that Norm was right – the Bullet engines are all the same, but none are the same! Anyway I've been able to fit one I've got to five other engines and it fitted perfectly on all of them, with a nice amount of clearance between the top of the tappet cover and the base of the barrel. We're always coming across this sort of problem with Bullets - it's part of their 'character'!

On that subject, I also tried to put the see-through Distributor cover on my sidecar bike; it didn't fit but was perfect on my "identical" solo bike. Modified it by counterboring the holes from the inside. The fit was then perfect. A word of warning if you are really keen to have one of these: The glass fell out of mine almost at once and I Araldited it back in ok. So don't take it out in the rain till you're sure... It will be now lots of fun for the sidecar person to watch. Depending, I feel, on who that is.

Just a thought when you sort out the fit would it look better if the silver alloy was painted green
