Hi all
After replacing the following valve guides / piston ring and cleaning the oil system my 250 is still smoking like a bonfire. Has anyone any ideas what could be the cause as I am running out of ideas

Cheers

Hi Rob, Assuming you haven't overfilled the engine and primary case - both are interconnected - I would suggest taking the primary cover off to check that all the oil pipe unions are sound and perhaps take the cambox cover off and check the oil pumps for any signs of excessive wear. I fixed a wet sumping unit 350 Bullet [big Crusader] by tightening a loose oil pick up pipe inside the primary case, one of the pipe flange bolts was a bit too long and was giving the impression it was tight, when in fact it was bottomed out, the resultant loose pipe was allowing the scavenge pump to draw air and lose suction. Worth taking a good look in the primary side. Regards, Paul.

Will just add - also check the scavenge suction filter, found on most, but not all Crusaders. It is in the brass chamber with the big hexagon nut at the bottom, undo the nut for access to the filter.

Hi. I had one where the gasket between the oil pipe 'octopus' within the p/chaincase and the oil pump was displaced, effectively blocking the scavenge pump's action. Impossible to see without removing said 'octopus'. Same symptoms. Good luck, Stephen

Hi all
Well I stripped the oil system down and found that the gasket on the scavenge filter was miss aligned and the filter was fitted the wrong way round there was also a blockage in one of the feed pipes
Refitted everything and no more smoke 😃
Thanks for all the advice

Cheers
