Thanks to the support and encouragement from these message boards I have found the confidence to change the shorty sporty exhaust on my efi bullet to the stock silencer. What a difference! It sounds fantastic. A very gentlemanly even tone. My neighbour came straight out to enjoy the sound with me. And the performance is much improved. My advice to anyone thinking of getting rid of the stock silencer to get something better is to think more carefully. Thaks to everyone who posts question and to everyone who replies.

A good exhaust note is like music, not necessarily better the louder it gets. I've followed a mate with a sport exhaust and ended up with a headache. I also witnessed it nearly causing an accident when despite slowing down the noise startled a horse almost throwing the rider.

Sorry , do you mean think before changing the exhaust from stock to upgrade , as I was thinking of putting a free flowing exhaust on my bullet but decided to keep it stock.

Hi Reds, I bought my 2009 efi a couple of months ago and am slowly putting right some modifications that the previous owner installed. I suspect that he hoped that a sports silencer would improve the bike in some way. But in truth it sounded dreadful and since I replaced the original, the performance is much improved. The engine ticks over much more evenly and is quicker to pull away. If something works the way it should,I would need a lot of convincing to get rid and spend money on something unknown.

Eeekkkkk.... someone who likes the stock silencer on an EFI. Must be cold in hell these days, especially for all those flying pigs who collect hens' teeth. Seriously though, an EFI with the stock silencer removed and replaced with one of our hosts silencers is an improvement. The stock silencers strangles the motor.

Both the original exhaust pipe as well as the silencer on EFI models are very restrictive. I have a 2011 Clubman and replaced the exhaust pipe with one from our hosts (91085), a genuine Goldstar silencer from the internet, K&N air filter and a power commander. The bike now performs far better and sounds fantastic without being too loud.

My EFI woodsman 'Thunderbolt' came with the high level Woodsman's exhaust, and the bike runs beautifully. He also causes people to turn and look before we reach them! Good job the end of the pipe is behind me.

My older iron bullet "Tornado' has a stock exhaust, runs well and sounds great, but may not be the best for the bike.








My view is that everything is correct when the bike sounds beautiful, without compromising on the 'performance'.



(I hear that the Reverend Enfield has replaced the pipes on his twin for a pair of organ pipes, and now drives around emitting a harmonious chord!)

Are you sure that's a standard exhaust Scaley? I thought the original one was a rather longer affair.
