Hello everyone, please excuse me but my 1st post is a request for help!!! Recently bought my brothers 1999 bullet 500 as a project. Engine is in boxes but has had new main bearings fitted, new Conrod fitted to crank and supposedly all the new parts to complete the rebuild (all bought from hitchcocks a few years ago). I'm currently going through the manual/web trying to sort out all the parts into some sort of order but what I cannot find are any crankcase dowels! Does anyone know wether or not they are used as it looks like there should be some but I cannot see them in the exploded diagrams I've looked at,any help much appreciated!!! Bike is in good condition otherwise so I'm really hoping to get it all together and ride the thing!

No dowels there is a tight fitting taper type stud that locates in the bottom and another tight fitting stud up on the top at the barrel neck

Thanks Norm very helpful! I've seen one stud that looks a bit different so that's probably the tapered one. I'm enjoying the project so far but my brother did mix all the parts up quite well and it's been about 4 years since he stripped it so understandably can't remember too much about it all.it took me a while to find and Suss out the distance spacers on the crank and the fact that the timing gears seem to be held in place by the timing cover!...... I'll get there! thanks again!
