Where I live the street lighting varies between crap and non-existent, so I have fitted a neolite/ Motovision bulb and headlamp combination as shown in the accessory catalogue. In terms of seeing my way, s'allright, better than it was, not as good as Number One Son's Yamaha scooter.
The annoying thing is that for the second time, the reflector which goes in front of the bulb has fallen off and is sitting uselessly in the bottom of the lamp.
It will need replacing again; hosts may do it under warranty because I hadn't had this one long.
Any other experiences with Motovisions?

Hi John R,The same thing happend to me,and one of my pals.We both agreed that thes lamps are aload of CRAP.Went back to standard indian lamp.

The problem is it seems with the Neolite. The bulb seems OK. Can you use it with other glass/ reflectors. What is it like in the Neolite with the reflector dropped dow,
I have no MOT to worry about in Guernsey, but I don't want to do anything dangerous to myself or others.

Hmm, that's handy, NO WONDER Scaly needed so little persuasion to swap one for my spare Lucas BPF unit! I fitted this particular Neolite tonight with metal deflector thingy so far intact, seems to be giving a good output with the mighty 35/35W H4 in place, I'll see how it holds up to regular use, compared to the Wipac Quadoptic's fondness for developing wobbliness of the bulb holder (note to self, don't buy any more of those). At least Cibie 7" units (remember them?) are still available, I might get one of these next. Regards, A.

Adrian, to be honest, I did contact our hosts and they sent replacements both times, and I raised the issue, but they said that many units had been sold with very few returns.



Had I seen this post a few days ago, I would have mentioned it. Sorry mate, so let's hope the bugger stays together. It's virtually new, having been fitted 8th of September, and what with Tornado rattling it about, it seems it might well be a good one.



So it did ok on the 35/35w, YAY! I could only get away with a 35w/35w as Tornado's diagram show a max of 45w/40, and the 60w/55w I had fitted as an experiment was too much drain, as the recharge circuit and the ammeter only just got into the + side after a stop at a junction (lights on). So now going to get a 35w/35w ordered for my return to the UK.

My EFI however, will probably run a small kettle! LOL.

Also to be honest, When the first Neo broke, I managed with much effort to fiddle and bend the metal bit until it finally came out. With the Motovision bulb, the end is black and so the 'shade' is not needed and the lamp assembly continued to work just as well, until the replacement arrived.



As long as your bulb has a black or silvered end so that dipped is correct, then you can get away without that metal thing. The game is getting it out!

Hi John,



The neolite takes an H4 bulb, any other newish fitting is likely to be H4, but will be marked as such when you go to buy usually.

Hello John R and Scalyback, You and others have had the same problem with the metal reflector snapping off and dropping into the sealed unit. Yes it is a difficult job to get it out and I ended up using 2 pair of long narrow nosed pliers to fold the reflector so to remove it. Phoned up our host to be told that as you wrote Scalyback that they had sold many of these units without any problems??? As my unit was 2 years old I was onto nothing as far as getting a replacement. I only hope that Hitchcocks are contacting their supplier about this problem. But I will not be buying another one as in spite of the age of the unit this should not have happened. Not fit for purpose came to mind. Now going to check the light pattern to see if it will pass a MOT. So everyone with these motovision units go and check yours. Ride on fellow Enfield owners. But not in the dark.
