At the moment my electra x has standard shocks that dont give very good ride quality. So I am going to fit new shocks.
Was wondering before I splash out on a set how much better are hagons or does anyone have other recommendations as to what gives a good smoother ride

Hi Davie: Check the menu on the left of screen: Technical Notes, then Suspension: Dual Rate shock absorbers.

Put Hagons on my Enfield and improved the bike quite a bit, thought they were worth it. Also if you have a bit more to spend there is the "IKON" brand which are said to be better than Hagon.
