Alubuild 300

I had a small hole to repair on the BSA chaincase. I think the chain had let go at some time in it's life and damaged the case. It had been bodged with epoxy but this had come adrift leading to an oil leak. I was going to have it alloy welded but thought I'd try one of these low temperature alloy solders first. I thought, if it didn't work I could just grind it off anyway.
I got some Alubild 300 on Ebay and found it dead easy to use and does just what it says on the tin. No flux was required and just normal cleaning. As it melts at 300c there's no chance of melting the case which would start going at about 600c.
It warns that there it won't flow into cracks but for this job it was spot on. It bridged across the 10mm hole very well and when cleaned up you can hardly see where the repair is.
