Hi Chaps,

I need to remove the Siamese exhaust on my 59 connie in order to replace the cylinder head gaskets . I can't for the life of me figure out how to get it out of the cylinder head ports. It seems to me the exhaust tie rod which braces the pipes against the frame downtube is preventing me from pulling the exhausts back and out.mcould somebody kindly take me through what I need to do to get them off?

Thanks
Richard

I imagine its the same setup as the super meteor. You need to slacken off the tie bar nuts completly both the external and internal nuts. Then slacken off the exhaust clamp by the frame. Remove the nut clamping the pipe to the frame on the right hand side by the footpeg. You should then be able to use a rubber mallet and gently tap both pipes out the heads evenly. Also tapping the joint between the left and right header pipes. It should all come apart then. Ed
