Anybody recommend a good cam for recording journeys?
I tried iphone strapped to handlebars, but the vibration of a classic engine make the picture bad.
Sevenoaks... Very bad driving, VERY.
yesterday Yesterday, stop at pelican crossing, people cross, light flash amber, people clear crossing, cluck (first) pull away and immediately realise that car behind is overtaking me.
car coming over crossing the other way, so overtaking car aims for kerb to miss them. Nowhere for me to go, I end up riding up the ramp that the pedestrians wait on, along the footpath between the stone wall and railings next to the road, and back on the road further on. Luckily, footpath was empty.
caught up with car at traffic light quere which was about 20 metres from the pelican crossing. forward swing with clenched fist, Drivers door mirror produced sounds that it was not designed to make. Little finger and side of left hand still a little numb today.
Today went out and bought yellow high viz vest. Turned up moo's road, which is a 1 in 5 (20%) hill and get up to about 20 MPH, (This is a residential road, but is used by many to cut out a set of slow traffic lights, just zoom down the road, turn left at the bottom.) spot two cars parked opposite each other, leaving a couple of meters space. move to middle of road and keep eye on car coming down hill, some distance away. notice car accelerates down the steep hill , presumably to try and beat me through the gap? realise that meeting point of vehicles will be between the parked vehicles and break quite hard. Car shoots through gap and swerves to avoid Tornado and I.
Very annoyed, turn bike and see car with brake lights, madly trying to slow down before T junction at bottom hill. Catch car at T junction shout, "Is there some reason you think I deserve to die?" (was very, very angry and shocked), she gesticulates what appears to be "We were both heading for the gap and I got there first. My gesticulation explained that my bike would come off worst followed by that 'cutting throat' motion. I don't think she got the message. Unfortunatly that rule 68 in the highway code that covered giving way to vehicles coming uphill' was taken out a few years ago.
Unfortunately, my white chinchilla cat 'Snowy' was not as lucky as me today, and was run over last year. The bloody car didn't even stop and I was so shocked, that I forgot to get the number.

Sisters! (Snowy on right)
I want a proper camera to record my journeys, one for my helmet i guess?
If it happens again, want proof that I was not at fault, or if worse, my relatives would want it.
I am glad that my reactions have got much sharper than when I first started to ride again.
Will try to find out if we can have loads of 'Think Bike' posters stuck on the lamp posts.
SO LESSON HERE... some buy bullets so that they are not tempted to drive fast, and improve survival rate, however, it is more often the other driver that will turn in front of you, have you off, etc. being seen is important however, educating the motoring public is vital. can't have people speeding up trying to beat a motorcycle to a thin gap. Not bloody on, and I am a somewhat cautious rider too!
Sorry for ranting, but a little shook up today!
