Well, I was out on Bertie on Friday visiting Headcorn Aerodrome - happily co-inciding with a visit by a 2-seat Spitfire. When I fired up Bertie to come home I noticed there was no charge showing. Got home all right albeit without the usual dipped headlight. Investigation on Friday revealed a healthy 35 volts emerging from the alternator, and a steady 3 volts from the Rect/Reg - an aftermarket one. Got in touch with Mr H. and ordered a Powerbox by which time it must have been approaching 4pm. Said Powerbox was with me by lunchtime today! Well done indeed Hitchcocks (and Royal Mail)!! Can't detect any other electrical fault at all so hopefully once the Powerbox is fitted all will be well. I'll put a fuse on the battery side to be safe - can anybody advise on what rating it should be? I thought maybe 10A...
Cheers,
Geoffers.

they say 20A, but 15A will usually do very nicely.

When you said "Out on Bertie" did you mean "Bertie the bullet", cos that will mean there are two of them here.

I await the battle of the Berties!

Forgot to add, I just changed from a regu-rectifier to a powerbox, Hitchcock's had it at my door almost before I had ordered it as they usually do, and it worked perfectly.

Not sure where yours was, but mine had been put in toolbox (oven) to cook. Suggest you do same as me, place under seat if possible, to allow the passage of air to keep it cool!

Thanks for that - I'm just about to get out there and have a go at it. No - he's not Bertie the Bullet Mk11 - just plain old Bertie Bullet and far too timid for a confrontation :o)

OK - all done - Powerbox installed under the seat and a 15A fuse in the live to the battery. Everything seems to work OK so fingers crossed....
