Cautionary tale - Just a tweak!

Changed the bars on my Electra on Saturday, all going well, drilled the switch unit holes, everything fitting great - last job, tighten the clutch lever assembly mounting bolt. Just a tweak, maybe little more - CRACK! Yep, I stupidly cracked the aluminum casting - nightmare. After beating myself with a large club I logged on to our hosts site, to find they didn't have any in stock (arghhhh). Thinks....try my local dealer at Cambridge. After a few minutes rummaging they found they had 1 left in stock! cue mad dash to go and get it. Moral of this tale - the last bolt is as important as the first!!!!! And don't, ever, over tighten the clutch assembly..... By the way, raising the jet seems to have cured my previous hesitant high speed running issues as I had a great problem free ride out on Sunday.

If mine hosts read this you need to order some more clutch lever assemblies :)

Tzen - how do you know that our hosts don't have them on order?

By raising the jet, do you mean fit a bigger one, if so which one? Or do you mean raising the needle?
Ray.

Yes, apologies NH, I meant raised the needle, which is now on highest setting (lowest notch); if this hadn't worked may have needed larger jet.

Presto - I am sure they have as I have had nothing but excellent service from them - it was meant as a jokey throw away comment, more my relief at finding the part!!!

I had the same problem with the clutch lever some years back and not available so bought "560608 CLUTCH LEVER ASSY, E-START" which has the same body just needed to swap the lever. Our hosts put me wise to this so it is worth checking with them as they know ways around these annoying problems.

Hi John, yes this would normally have been my first port of call, but it was Saturday and therefore our hosts were closed...good tip though, I suppose a lot of the EFI stuff will actually transfer.
