Boyer full of water!

I'm doing some work on my electrics, basically checking all the connections and re-siting some components and wiring inside the toolboxes, plus the gel battery under the single seat to give that see-through look behind the engine.
My Boyer ignition unit, which I have had fitted for years in a reasonably sheltered location behind the battery spilled out lots of water from a crack around the top edge!I am surprised this could happen, always thought it was full of resin.
It might account for the way the bike is running at the moment!

Could it be "buoyancy"?

Would that be positive or negative buoyancy
