I have removed the coils from the magneto on a Flea and I am setting it up with a total loss external coil ignition set up. Does anybody have any info on this apart from what the manual says to set the point 3/16th before TDC. I will give it a try tomorrow and see how it goes. I have set it up 12 volts so I have a nice big fat spark

I love old two-strokes and restored my '59 villiers a couple of years ago and nothing improves them as much as having a big, fat, reliable spark. I converted mine using a 6volt CDI coil and starting hot or cold[especially hot]became a piece of cake. Just get the timing spot on,obviously with the head off is easiest,my manual said 11/64ths"BTDC but 3/16ths sounds good. You should easily get a days ride from a battery or carry a spare for peace of mind.
