I'm currently converting my 2008 Classic Bullet 350 to the bobber look and I'm now focusing on the rear mudguard. I've bought a wide alloy mudguard (it's 150mm/6 inches across and has a flatter profile) which will look quite trick sitting about an inch above the rear tyre. I now need to sort out how to fix the mudguard to the swing arm. I'm looking for inspiration and ideas from anyone out there who has already done a similar modification. If I can avoid the need to do any welding on the swing arm that would be a bonus, as so far, nothing I've done on the bike will prevent it from being put back to original at a later date if desired.
Also, and I apologise in advance if this is a stupid question...if I wanted instead to go the way of hard tailing my Bullet, could I just remove both rear shockers and replace with fabricated steel box section or tubular bars on the shocker mounts as an alternative to the expensive hardtail frame section sold by our hosts? To my mind, this seems on the face of it, a simple and cost effective way of hardtailing the bike, but I've not seen it done this way before which makes me query whether it is a practical solution after all.
Any advice would be much appreciated as whilst I've owned 5 Bullets over the years, this is the first time I've done more than the basic service and maintenance on one.
Regards
Ed

Personally, I like a bobbed version of the original mudguard (like on mine), but that's just me.

Hopefully, I've remembered how to post photographs.
As for the 'rigid' idea, I've seen it nicely done with a (pair of, obviously) very substantial stainless steel rod with a boss at each end.

Thanks for the response Count Johnny. whilst I can't seem to get the pictures (even by cutting & pasting the link), the fact that you've seen my hardtail idea done by someone else is extremely encouraging as I'm going more towards the hardtail option.

Johnny, you need to copy the HTML link in Photobucket. This will be written at left side of the boxes with link in them. Unless you are trying to do it on an Ipad, when it won't work.

Many thanks for that. What a great looking bike - although I notice this one has a hardtail conversion to the frame. Still interested to know if anyone out there has hardtailed a full standard frame using the shocker mounts.
