Hi all. Not been on for a while but still here lurking away in the background. My question is what's the best method of cleaning an S & B conical air filter? The catalogue says they are 'washable' but just wondering with what?
Many thanks guys.
Riggers.

A while ago one would use petrol, but we're not supposed to do that now are we?

you could use a water soluble de greaser and rinse under tap then dry. My favourite is Jizer, 'cause it's not mucky looking to start with like Gunk. (Name says it all really!)

Thanks Nettshubby, I hadn't thought of Jizer. Actually today I gave our hosts a ring and asked their good advice, and the guy there suggested 'low pressure water'. He then went on to recommend a kit they sell for a tenner which contains a cleaning solution (whatever that may be) and some oil to put on after cleaning. Might try the water and if it doesn't look much better give the Jizer a try.....but if there are any more suggestions........

Or you could use white spirit if you prefer a solvent. Put the filter and the white spirit in a suitable container, such as a large food container, that you can seal and then shake vigorously. Leave to dry out.

Phew! That's a relief! It's always worked great for me, and I'm glad it worked for you, too.
