valve removal

Hi all... advice is most needed for removal of both inlet and exhuast valves. I run the tuned head from our host. The spring retainer set up is different from the stock head. I have the valve remover tool and it works super on the stock valve set up, but on the tuned head the split collars can't be removed when the spring is pressed together. There is simply not enough room in the center hole on the tool. What to do? Maybe drill out the hole to a bigger size? Anybody here having experience on removing valves on the tuned head?... regards Jacob

Best help might be to mention, that the new hole has to be 18 mm. Jacob

Strange, I have the tuned head and a standard spring compressor, works fine every time for me. Maybe the compressors changed, mine is a pukka Enfield one from Mr H.

Midge, my valve spring release tool is an Enfield tool as well bought in the US. The centre hole was just too small to let the split collets in the tuned head pass through. No problems with the stock head. It was a simple enlargement process with a 18 mm drill bit. Knowing about indian manufactiring standards I'm not surprised a difference in tool specs are present.
