Hi

Ive just bought a non running 1956 Royal Enfield clipper 350 G De Luxe, have successfully got it running, and now set the clutch lever to allow gear selection and drive!!, but the wiring loom is a complete mess and not original! so no lights horn etc
Does anybody have a wiring diagram I could work to? Its a 6V positive earth circuit with no ignition switch, the rear light appears not to have a brake unit, there is switch at the front near the speedo for selecting main light and I assume side lights.

Thanks

Bill

Should be alot like this one, By '56 I would have expected a brake light switch......If you want to add an Ignition type switch with a key,(Bear in mind you are running a magneto) It will need to go between the battery -ve and the ammeter, with an inline fuse (not shown on the diagram.)

Hi - I've just noticed I'm part way through editing this as I had to change some of the colours. The changes are quite simple. I just changed battery -ve supply to RED and regulated -ve supply(A terminal on control box) to brown. This makes things clearer when fault finding and sourcing wire. I also changed the rear tail light supply to orange. Otherwise it's as 1950s...

Hi Zippy

Thanks for that I will crack on with manufacturing a loom, typically where would I find the brake light switch, there only appears to be one cable going to the rear light.
Thank you for your help it is very much appreciated

Thanks

Bill

I would look low left of the machine, inside the toolbox on the lower surface is common. I would count the addition of a brake light as an invisible but potentially life-saving mod.Very easy to do too, - Especially if you are rewiring from scratch.

The "Clipper" was always a budget model to Enfield (ie, cheap,) and as such many otherwise standard features were priced as extras. A brake light switch may well have been one of these items. Others could be speedo, pillion footrests, dual seat, adjustable rear shocks, air filter, etc. I think I have a wiring diagram somewhere, I'll have a look.

Ahh.. Now I see my mistake. Compulsory brake lights were 1965, - Not 1955 . It's not that my memory is failing, It is just being asked to cover an unreasonable amount of time....
