hi all, i have a 1960 super meteor, when i took the barrels off i noticed that the inlet cam follower body on the left barrel is loose enough to pull out by hand. i know that these are usually fitted tight into the crankcase and need a special puller to remove them. the body is undamaged but i can hear it tapping in the crankcase when the engine is running at speed. is this a big problem or is it ok to run like this? thanks ed

Hi Ed, that needs sorting or damage will result sooner or later. Perhaps an oversize is available, or it may be possible to knurl the outside surface of the guide and use some bearing fitting compound to lock it in place? I would start by asking Hitchcocks if they have any replacements in any oversizes. Regards, Paul.

Ed as Paul says the guide jumping up and down will wear the hole bigger, I had that happen on my crossbred because I got the clearance wrong when I machined the guide

If it's a few thou (and it probably is, ) plating the guide can add some extra metal. REgards, Mark
