Update on transmission vibration

I went for a short ride on the Bullet last night and the second gear noise was really annoying. So today I've stripped the box. The layshaft second gear is toast, the driving surfaces of the teeth are all pitted. Having said that, it would probably have gone on for much longer. I know gears are supposed to be replaced as a pair but the mainshaft sliding gear is perfect and therefore it stays. Sealed bearings will be fitted while it's all apart, along with all the bits that commonly wear. While I've got it this far apart I'm also replacing the rear engine/gearbox plates (which are cheap!), as the centre stand pivots and stops are very worn. It will all be worthwhile!

Edit - just noticed that the gear dogs on the mainshaft first gear are chipped and worn. It doesn't seem worth putting such worn parts back. That means first gear and the sliding gear will have to be replaced after all - sharp intake of breath!!

And while you are in there make sure the layshaft bushes are ok, but there are not fun to replace
