My Classic Bullet - new in October 2011, came with Avon tyres 90/90 F 110/80 R. Done 1600 miles so far with no obvious signs of wear. I'd appreciate advice about when to expect a need to replace.

Looking at other tyre threads, Dunlop TT100 tyres are a popular choice here. Apart from looks, would there be any practical benefits to be gained from an early switch to these?

I would say no. Avon Roadriders are the most modern, most grippy tyres commonly fitted to Bullets, which is why classic racers use them. The only advantage in older style Dunlops or Avon SMs etc is that they have a more classic look. I guess it's possible they may last longer and they are slightly cheaper, but if you are happy with the current tyres I'd stick with them until they wear out.

Expect 6 - 8,000miles from the front and at least double that from the rear.

Cheers

I totally agree with Rog - the Avons are great tyres in both dry and wet conditions. I replaced the rear on my EFI Woodsman at about 8,000 miles and the front has plenty of life left at 10,000.

Hello FIDO ----I fitted a set of Avon Roadriders to my 1975 Honda GL1000 Goldwing---WHOOPEEE !! Sticks like ***** to a blanket. Your bike is a modern bike in every sense and has the performance to match (Compared to my Classic 500, for instance.). At the end of the day it's PERFORMANCE on the road that matters most. Stay with 'em and enjoy the ride they give. Ride Safe !!!--------------------
