Ok so after reading Simons post I was all ready to buy this cork clutch so rang Hitchcocks to seek advice, they said while the cork probably does work ok they recommend the 5 plate clutch, they also advised to remove my clutch plates and clean then in solvent before shelling out on a new clutch in case oil contamination is making them slip, so assuming the cleaning does not work I'm still none the wiser whether to go the cork or 5 plate route?

Fifteen pounds plus vat and postage for the cork plates so its not a huge gamble. If you have slipping issues then maybe the five plater is the go. However I have the improved spring kit on mine which solved the slipping which I had with the old clutch and I kept when I put the new ones in. The three cork plates though vastly improved the clearance and the take up of the clutch. Mine works perfectly now hot or cold but it is a 350cc albeit 8:1 comp with improved cams and a ported head and 1-1/8" 389 Amal and hey there is more than one way to skin a cat.
