After my little accident where I dropped Thumper after taking him off the centre stand, I decided to get a side stand. Our obliging hosts sent me a nice new stand and it took minutes to fit. Looks good, but I haven't tried it yet....

I have one of these on my 50's Trail Bullet. It's certainly up to the job and the chrome is better than that on many current Bullet offerings (It stays on!). Only gripe I have with mine is with the new knobblies and rebuilt stainless wheels, the leg seems a bit short and the bike leans over too far.....So It looks like I will have to make a new 2" overlength leg. _ always something with Bullets :/

I would like one of these, but what put me off was someone said, a while back, that they led to severe wet sumping due to bike leaning?? Anyone any experience?

Running the motor on the sidestand is the problem because the scavenge pump can't pull the oil from the sump, parking on the sidestand no problem

Had one on my '65 a few years back----------Brazed an approx. 2"diam. x 1/8" thick steel plate onto it to increase the "footprint"... Much better when used on wet grass or soggy ground etc......

I fitted one of these onto my 1996 500. Its a good bit of kit but needs adjustment to make it fit better by filiing the plate and head of the 'arm' - which allows it to better fit out of the way (you can see in Exile's images how it sticks out at the side) and so that it can miss the main stand when retracting. I also attached a plate to stop it sinking into grass and a short arm so I can heel it down OK. Like so much of the Bullet, each bike needs tweaking! Cheers, ChrisD.
