I am having trouble fitting the spring into a Micarb; it probably is a simple job but I can`t remember how the cable and the spring are located. I know that the cable fits into the L-shaped slot at the side of the slide but not sure if it goes through the centre of the spring or on the outside.

Through the centre.
It's sometimes easier to fit he cable then "wind" the spring on.

Thank you Peter, that thought did enter my head after retrieving flying parts from around the shed floor.

Lepn, pull the twist grip off and remove the cable, then put the slide back together, so much easier

Thanks Norm, I was beginning to think I needed three hands. I was starting to collect firewood to place underneath it when I go down to the pub.
