First time in ten years I've had to bring the bike home on A breakdown truck. I was just having a blate down the Southend road passing the junction with the M25 when suddenly all went dead leaving me stranded right in the middle of nowhere checked fuses all OK checked lights all working OK tried spark plug tester no spark ?. Ammeter still flicking over when kicking So points working OK so me thinks duff coil or condenser or broken wire none of which I had a spares for on me. So get bike home by breakdown van. Lucky I had a new spare O/E Lucas coil in the shed so a quick swap was tried and It fired up first kick all seem now OK but I will give it a good electrical check up.? So my question is has anyone else had one of these Indian Lucas coils suddenly just completely fail mid ride or is this unusual If so are the PVL replacements that Hitchcock sell a lot better.

Hi PAUL---------- yep ! had exactly the same happen a couple of years back out in the wilds of the Shropshire countryside whilst making for the local Thursday bike meet at Lynne's Raven Cafe'...The name LUCAS is just that ie a name only.....The PVL is German made and OK but you'll need a smaller diameter bracket OR a filler piece for the OE item.......You might also try a Honda or similar item.....
