A quick question, when I dismantled my Electra x engine there was no gasket between the crankcase halves, it was sealed with a thin smear of jointing compound. Has anyone else had this or as it been assembled / reassembled without it. It was completely oil tight, yet our hosts list a gasket

The gasket is marked for 5 speed box. Why it should be different I've no idea but how many gears have you?

Hi Davie. No gasket on mine either when I took it apart. Crankcase faces were nicely cut off for perfect fit with small amount of sealant.

Mine is a 5 speed. At this rate all I'm going to need is oil seals which don't come with the gasket set, and a couple of other gaskets. I think I will just reassemble the crankcase halves with Wellseal or similar
Thanks for the reply
