A Go Round the Frame..

Prompted by Scalyback's tale of woe concerning lost bolts, nuts and bits and pieces, I decided to give Thumper a quick once over and check all my nuts, bolts and stuff that hangs off the frame. I'm glad I did. The footpegs all needed a quick tighten. The support bolt for the bracket holding the rear end of the exhaust was missing (OK, it might never have been there, but it is now!), and I found several nuts that took a pinch of the spanner.

This may be necessary for me to do as Thumper, despite being 8-9 years old is, technically speaking, as new. He's only done 3000 KM and stood still for 8 years before I found him, but it highlights the importance of doing a regular check. Bolts stretch, nuts rattle loose, things fall off...

I know what you mean, as I was taking the engine out of my bike I noticed that there was no loose nuts and bolts none of the were what I would consider tight. They will be after the rebuild and Loctited

I am happy to say that after fitting the new nuts, washers and other bits, Tornado is running very well!

As promised, I got close to him and now know what he looks like from below as well.

Had a lovely day out, roads and a trip down a byway! A truly contented day.

Hi EXILE---------- good point and a good post...Proper High Tensile bolts don't normally stretch, but those cheapie ones from the DIY shop will...As per DAVIE HALL and LOCTITE 270 everything !! ( http://www.loctite.co.uk/loctite-4087.h ... 2623619073 ..... It's Green, it GRIPS .... it's GREAT !! )............... Sometimes when riding the Bullet I loose things, mostly the will to live !!............

As I undo and do nuts back up I am slowly replacing all of Bertie's nuts with Nylock nuts ( did I spell that right? ) today it was the nearside tool box and exhaust.
