1996 500 Bullet.

A little headwork (larger exhaust valve, gas flowing etc, years ago, by Crowmarsh Classics)

All jetted (by Crowmarsh) and running sort of OK (well, as OK as things run).

Now, I've recently changed from a Boyer to points and condenser and I'm getting hesitation from around eighth to quarter throttle and - having thought that I'd richen the needle a little - I find that the needle is fully rich on a 2.5 slide. Starts and ticks over fine, by the way.

Would anyone expect that I'd have to go to a 2.0 slide?

Sorry, should have added, straight through exhaust (basically a two inch pipe), S&B air filter, plug looks fine.

Ah yes spotted your air screw conversation below. I had the same issue with my ported 350 with a 389 Amal. I found the problem was largely sorted with a lower cut away on the slide but if your needle is right out it seems that you possibly need a bigger main jet.
