Anybody use this rod or have knowledge of it? I see it has the fixed bush installed, what better options are there for the floating bush (other than the Indian version)? Assuming my crankpin is fine, is there a need to upgrade the crankpin to better quality, or even an option?

HDA of Redditch made the con-rods for Royal Enfield. They are very good, better than anything the Indians have produced. The parts to rebuild the original floating bush are available from Hitchcocks who can also supply a roller bearing replacement (which can re-use the original rod,) made by Alpha Bearings. The floating bush is a very good and sturdy design but needs good oil flow, which should normally be available from the standard oil pump set up. Now, what was it you wanted to know? Sorry bout that, under the bridge. Basically I was wondering about floating bushs and if the India floater and crank pin is all there is for options. Not doing the alpha roller or billet crank as it is overkill for my application. Oh and the cost! If I use this rod with bushes I like to know of bush and pin options if any.

Well, you have already covered the options! Basically, repair the floating bush with either Indian or British made components (Brit are better made, obviously,) or replace with roller big end from Alpha UK (quality) or made in India, (rubbish Norm would say, probably fairly!). Roller conversion has the most options including a whole new crank stroked to 612cc if you really want to go that way. Obviously the price reflects the quality but if you're not going racing or building a very fast road bike there is no real need. That's it! REgards, Mark
