Recently I had to take my clutch off, only to find that the nut was almost hand tight. So I modified the mainshaft and clutch to get more thread under the nylon part of the nut. This has to be beneficial, but the nut still seems easy to undo.

I have received a new nut and washer from India, anyhow the nylon fell apart and the spring washer turned out to be a normal aluminium washer.
Has the spring been superseded with this washer?

I suggest you make a washer with a foldable tab.

Hi Alan, I use the 248 medium strength (blue) lipstick type tube.
Lasts and lasts and lasts....It's a handy size for the tool roll too.
