putting together a basket case 2004 500 and got down to the finishing touches. never worked on a micarb for a 500 - different than on my 350. this may sound dumb, but how do you install the throttle cable on the carburetor. I can't figure it out. is there a video out there somewhere?

Dean, hold the cap with the spring over the cable, compress the spring and grip the cable inner between 2 fingers and then insert the cable into the slot in the slide and then put the locking plate ontop to hold the cable in position. Before doing all this remove the cable from the twistgrip end to give you more inner cable length

Hi Matey !!------------ on the left of this page go to "TECHNICAL NOTES".........then select "CARBURETTORS" ...............then "TUNING AND USING MICARB CARBURETTORS" ........... Scroll down a wee bit and you'll find a description and 2 photos of that locking plate that NORM was referring to.....It takes a bit of jiggery-pokery to do it as the nipple is only just held within the main slot......

Alan, pointy nose pliers help get the thing in place fairly easily

Or, put the cable in place and "wind" the spring on afterwards.

HELLO NORM ------ Over 40 years ago I used to do that sort of thing but that's definitely a no-no these days...Either as per PETER F or remove from the twist grip first etc....

thanks to all who commented- wrapping the spring around the cable worked like a charm and I didn't have to fight the tension of the spring.
