My 09 Bullett DL runs on standard gearing but i am think of going up one tooth on the gearbox sprocket through our hosts. As i don't use the bike on dual carriageways and faster roads that often is this a worthwhile mod to carry out please?

Hi Martin, i know with the four speed box each tooth equates to approx 3mph increase for equivalent rpm..

So although the motor may be slightly more relaxed in cruising you will also notice a difference when trying to climb hills in top...

It will bog down more readily without having extra power from the motor to cope...

Sort of swings and roundabouts really, gain some lose some... With the 4 speed a conversion to close ratio made it all worth while..
Unfortunately this is not available as a kit for the 5 speed but i think going up one will be fine... any more and you'll need a longer chain and power mods...

Hi Martin... I have an efi and geared up a tooth a while back. Easy mod and worth it for the money in my opinion. The lower gears make it a good mod for town use... 1st lasts a bit longer and is better as a result, 2nd gets you through lights etc... and a few less vibrations in top at high speed is comfy. I dont think you will miss the torque unless you pull a chair or run with a hefty pillion ;) change it next time you need a new chain.
