What would be the largest rear tyre I could fit to my 1999 500 Bullet? I figure if the diameter is increased as much as possible the bike will go faster. I don't mind altering the mudguard and seat to make it fit.

By increasing the rear tyre diameter you are increasing the gear ratio. This will only make the bike go faster if it has the power to pull the higher gear. It's simpler to just increase the size of the gearbox sprocket - same effect.

I'm not sure you would be able to get a tyre of a larger diameter to make much of a difference, without at least going up a rim size, and if you did then the bike wouldn't sit on the centre stand. One thing leads to another.

Silly old sod that I am, I made a hasty reply that reads the opposite of what I meant. Like I did notice the date. Oh bugger this I'm going back to my 7 a day bottle of merlot
