Hi all. Just gone to start my electra x. It started 2nd kick yesterday and ran fine. Went to it today and it won't start. I have checked the side stand switch and removed it and joined the wires. It still has no spark. I have checked the fuses , they are ok. I have checked the various plugs and the connectors under the seat and all are clean and secure. I have changed the plug and checked the coil connection's What else is there to check?

Davie, did it start after you removed the sidestand switch. I can't remember how they are wired and joining the wires may not be correct, all I did with my Electra the day I bought it new was turn the switch the opposite way around and it was still like that when I sold it recently

Davie if you turn on the ignition does the horn sound? does the brake light come on if you pull the front brake lever?
If yes then main fuse and switch are ok.. Is the kill switch set to on?? There is a second fuse in the supply to the TCI..
Get your multimeter out and start checking for 12volts dc various points in the ignition circuit.. check the diagram..

Joining the wires will activate the ignition cut out. When the stand is down the 2 wires are looped cutting off the spark. If you have removed the switch and joined the wires you have done the same thing. Best thing is to pull the side stand connector off the TCI.

Well its noow running again. I disconnected the sidestand switch and it made no difference. I was checking varios connectors then spinning it over on the starter, suddenly I got a jolt from the plug cap. Turns ont the metal shroud on the plug cap was shorting to earth, I removed the metal shroud and it started. Just done 30 miles on it and it feels much smoother. Thanks for the replies.
