Hello All,
I am fitting a Boyer electronic ignition system and the instructions say to set the engine to full advance timing mark on compression. Where on the Mk1A Interceptor is this mark, if anywhere?
How do I set the engine to full advance timing if there is no mark?

Hi Stuart, I would contact Boyer, I have only fitted Pazon units and they don't require this and there is no way of advancing the ignition to full advance unless you have an auto advance sprocket and the Boyer should have the advance built into the black box.On my Inter I just locked the advancer up so it couldn't move

Stuart, I don't think the 1A had a timing mark, they only appeared on the Mk2. The full advance point is 38 degrees BTDC, you will need to fit a timing wheel to the crank, easily done. I sense you may be new to this lark, in which case you can't do better than to join the Interceptor Owners Group at
https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/RE_Interceptor/info It is a moderated site so it'll take a couple of days (at most) to get in but it is very helpful and informative.

Hi Mark,
Off hand do you know if the standard Bullet Boyer kit will fit the Mark 1A Inter or does it have a special one. Does the one that fits the Series 2 Inter fit the 1A? I have never seen them side by side to be able to compare, can only go on what I remember

Norm, I have not worked on a 1A so I'm not sure about this but I do know the S2 uses the standard "side points" version as used on 70s Nortons, Triumphs, BSAs etc. The 1A contact breaker housing is quite large, I'm guessing it has a different points back plate? And therefore the electronic version pick up plate is different? Not very helpful, sorry!

Mark,
I have a 1A sitting here at the moment but it is buried a bit deep in the shed waiting for a new alternator for it so as soon as I get to it I will measure it up and see how it relates to a Bullet one, but you are right it does look bigger

Mark, my WS manual says 32 degrees fully advanced.
