Distributor Wiring

In pursuit of easier starting and roadside repairability I'm going to convert my (batteryless, custom loomed) Enfield from Boyer to good old fashioned points and condendsor. So the simple question is, in basic terms, where do the wires from the distributor go. One direct to the coil? And the other? I've bought a complete distributor assembly, so the wires from the dizzy will be standard colours.

The points are the earth point for the ignition system.
12v feed to coil via ignition switch, other side of coil to points.
Simple.

Only one wire from the distributor and it goes to neg side of coil

Thanks, chaps. I'm working on the basis that the Boyer unit isn't reliably seeing enough volts at the kick start (observable by a lack of sparks on the first few kicks) so the plug is getting wet - making the bike a '10th century Danish king' to start.

CJ,before you lose the Boyer ignition,and the superior advance curve,and higher voltage at the plug,better spark, consider fitting a small battery just to provide voltage at start up. I would use 2 off 12volt 0.8 amp hour batteries, connected in series and charged by the alternator and Boyer Powerbox set up. You would need an ignition switch and fuse in the battery circuit somewhere to isolate the ignition. I used this system on an electronic ignition system on another bike which requires 12volts doc to operate the ignition advance/retard .
The batteries are tiny, each is only 100 x 40 x 30. I paid £5 each for them. I have a wiring diagram if you want one.

Sorry, I should have said: connect the 2 batteries in parallel.

There are battery suppliers on line that let you search for batteries by size so you can work out which will fit the available space. I did this with my trials Cub to good effect.

Count Johnny , your loom has been designed without a battery? , just the altenator and reg/rect?. you need to use a boyer black box reg/rect OR SIMPLY add a capacitor across the reg/rect output. those were used on trials bikes in the50/60s without batteries ,lucas 2mc those are commonly available , suggestions inc http://www.trialsbits.co.uk/product_inf ... ts_id=1031 . the idea is that it acts as a small battery holding the charge from the altenators pulses at low speeds
