I thinking of getting the powerbox from our HTC to replace the reg/rec on the Electra and then ditching the battery.
Has anyone any experience of doing this?

Excuse the stupid question as I'm a relative new boy to this old school but hey why have a battery if I don't have to have one?
I have removed the electric start so that's no reason....
Why would I want the lights on if the bike isn't running? I've imagined a dark night on the side of the road broken down wouldn't be great but not a great problem.

I like the idea of simplifying things........is it that simple?

So could it still have a battery fitted in case I wanted to.......what?

How many of you don't have batteries?

What are you talking, Electra X or a UCE Electra. If UCE they require power to run the fuel pump for the fuel injection. If Electra X because it has electronic ignition I'm not sure what the TCI unit requires to perform at start up. I found the powerbox too short of power to allow me to start my Inter witou a battery, it goes into advance due to low power. What is the reason for wanting to ditch the battery?

Hi Jimmer. You can kick start an Electra X in to life with the Powebox only, but it does take an almighty swing to get a strong enough spark. Having a battery, even a small one will make life easier on your leg muscles and prevent your lights dimming, or your engine cutting out at traffic lights. Do fit a Powerbox though as they are more reliable than the Indian Swiss Regulator/Rectifier. Mine at least has proven a good investment, and needless to say, I have kept the battery. Regards.
