hello all, need a bit of advice..i have a leanburn electra x 2008 model and didn't like the standard pipe/silencer so I fitted a hitchcocks aftermarket less restrictive pipe/silencer, looks and sounds great, do you think I should re-jet the carb? seems to run fine with no issues but im worried I may be damaging piston,be glad of any advice, many thanks

Check the colour of the spark plug tip. If it's white, you need a larger mainjet. Grey or brown, and you're ok.

At the risk of repeating what has been written so many times before - main jet only comes into play on full throttle.
Much better advice here in our hosts Technical Notes

Careful here. Electra X doesn’t have a Mikcarb, it has a UCAL Mikuni CV carb. The link Beezabryan has given to the (excellent!) notes on our host’s website are for a different carb – the Mikcarb as fitted to the Classic 350’s and 500’s. Electra X is a leanburn engine and does tend to run hot. But some colour on the plug tip (lightish brown) will give you peace of mind.

Hi All, being the dinosaur amongst us I have little knowledge of anything beyond iron motors with a traditional method of carburation, gear operation and starting method;)
But I do try
