I know this has been posted on before but i am now considering this mod as i've carried out most the the other upgrades. My questions are these:how easy or difficult is it to do?Does the chain itself need any changes and will the bike be much affected at slower speed?

Hi Martin,
Not sure what it is you want to know, I assume you are talking a 19 tooth. Bike will run fine with it around town and performs better out on the road. As for how hard to do depends on the tools you have and your experience. You need a puller for the rotor, puller for the clutch hub and a big spanner for the engine sprocket. Then you can have issues getting the 3 allen screws holding the inner primary on. Unless you have a good hold on these they can round off easily. Pig of a deign. Then you will need a tube spanner to remove the gearbox sprocket. Hopefully the chain will be long enough.. Simple job if you have the right gear, about 45/60 minute job, but always expect it to go bad because it is an Enfield after all.

Thanks for the advice Norm-and very much appreciated it is too.Yes it's the 19 tooth sprocket i'm thinking of fitting.I seemed to recall that it's not necessarily a straightforward job as you've clearly pointed out.I don't have any pullers and i'm only really used to working on Jap bikes of the last 40 years.I do struggle with my Enfield sometimes so i think taking on board what you've helpfully said i'll get professional help on this job.
