I bought my GT last year to replace my classic cafe racer and really like the new bike, but has anyone else had a problem with the exhaust to silencer area which seems to stick out a lot and catch trousers when you put your foot down? I have melted a pair of expensive waterproofs on this and also marked my boots when wearing them outside the trousers. The guard on the silencer seems to be there for a pillion (useless with a single seat!) and is in totally the wrong place for me. I have been considering a DIY solution by reversing the existing guard and fitting it to the end of the exhaust pipe but this will leave a blank fitting at the back of the silencer. Any other ideas?

I would leave the one as it is and make myself a new one out of bit of polished alloy sheet and fasten it in front of existing one say with a couple of S/Steel Jubilee clips.. Probably got an old alloy mudguard I could cut up somewhere.

Steve hi, the simple answer to your question is – no I haven't. In fact after I read your post I went out have another look at the bike because as far as I can see the silencer is well tucked in. And there isn't a silencer to pipe section – it's just in two pieces. Is it just that your waterproofs are pretty baggy at the bottom?
