Hi All, i have recently rebuilt my 1960 super meteor and finally decided yesterday it was nice and dry enough to get it out for a test ride. i noticed there is a definate whirring noise from the cam chain at idle. do you think this is anything to worry about as i have never noticed it before. thanks ed

They do tend to make a slight noise, but for peace of mind it is worth removing the cover to check all is well and in particular check the adjuster is assembled correctly as per the manual, this can cause noise if incorrect.

Yeah, what Dennis says but generally speaking if there is only a whirring rather than a clatter, you've done it right!

hi, thank you for your replies, it is only a whir at idle as soon as i put any revs on it quiets down, i was worried it could be a bush worn. Their is no clatter from the chain. thanks ed
