Wiring a digital tachometer

Hi all can some kind person please tell me which of the three wires on the TCI on an Bullet 500 Electra X is the negative feed to the ignition coil. (Centre connector block)
I am in the process of fitting a digital tachometer, thus far none of the wires have the colour on the wiring diagram. (Tachometer was live with the ignition off at the first attempt due to wrong coloured wiring from the ignition switch, I have cured that problem. Turned out the blue wire was the positive with the ignition on.)
I have obviously now picked the wrong wire on the TCI despite it being a green one.

Cheers.

I thought I had posted a simple question. I was obviously wrong.

Would love to help papasmurf as i'm sure would others but it all sounds a bit vague at present…

Wrong coloured wires according to diagram.. What diagram? the bikes or the tacho??

Can you tell us about how the tacho should be wired, any instructions in the box.. what model…?

Didn't know there was a blue wire on a TCI.. Upload diagram or picture would be great… gwilly

Gwilly the tachometer did not come with any wiring in instructions, I had to run tests on it with a low voltage until I got it to "fire up" with all four zeros lit up and checking its self back to the "resting state of the right hand zero lit.
That made it easy or should have done to wire to the positive on the Ignition one switch (with inline fuse) and the negative to the negative of the bikes battery.
I have got to that stage with the left hand zero lit with the ignition on.
I now need to connect the pulse pick up to the negative terminal wire leading from the TCI to the ignition coil.
I have no way of identifying which one that is except it is one of three wires coming out of the centre connector on the TCI, (Three wires, one redundant connection on a 4 way connector.)

I have no way of identifying which of those wires is the negative feed to the coil, or which wire on the coil is the negative one as that is not identified on the coil.
(I can't connect to the coil anyway as it is buried between two frame strengthening plates under and behind the headstock. So I need to tap into the negative wire coming out of the TCI to the coil.)

Link to picture of TCI unit, which wire out of the centre connector is the negative feed to the coil?

On a diagram i have for TCI the White/red from the ign coil joins with the red/black from the TCI which appears to go back to the ignition switch…

Brown is the live to TCI and coil via a 10amp fuse..

Black is negative from TCI… The other two wires white/green and green are pulsar wires to TCI..

Hope this is some help but diagrams are crap and loom wire colours change with stock levels i think…. cheers gwilly...

Thanks but that does not tell me which is the negative line to the coil. Which is why I posted a link to the picture of the TCI. Which one of the terminal in the centre block is the negative to the coil, is what I need to know.

I don't own a TCI powered bike so i can't slip out and look, however the wires from the loom are fitted in moulded plugs which can only fit one way in the TCI… the colours i have on this diagram shows red/black from the TCI join with the white /red which is your return from the coil..
Thats it i'm afraid...

Unfortunately those colours do not match up with the ones on the TCI unit on my bike.
Trial and error job tomorrow I hope I don't fubar the TCI unit in the process.

Try this. Disconnect the 2 wires at the coil turn ign on and check for voltage on each wire. If there is voltage on one but not the other the wire you want must be the one without. Trace back to tci.
