Is it just me, or have I got the wrong chain guard fitted to my "NEW" (don't start me on that!) Woodsman?

Image

Only, I thought the vertical section went between the chain and your leg, but mine goes between the chain and the wheel?

Does keep the spokes clean though.

Just checked and yours is fine - although the guard offers more metal than mine at the off-side, ie the bit that faces your leg - mine has a minor rollover at the top of the guard, hardly enclosed chain as a result!

Sorry, I'm not sure I explained that very well, and the pics was not very useful, here's another...

The middle of the chain guard is like an "L" shape, but with the short bit of the "L" at the top. On my other bikes (and even my first bicycle) the long bit of the "L" was on the outside of the bike, to help shield your trousers (LOL) from the chain, but my woodsman has the long vertical section towards the wheel? It reminds me of a chain guard that would look normal if fitted to the other side of the bike! I was just wondering if the wrong one had been fitted, or are they all 'Backwards' looking?

The chain guard on my 2008 EFI doesn't fit, and never has. It sits *near* the chain, guarding from a distance :) just like yours!

When looking at the light reflection on the chain guard, you are looking at the INSIDE of the curve, with the chain between that and the outside of the bike!

Sofiaspin, could you please check again, sorry, the lighting is a bit poor for a good pic!

At the moment, we are in Switzerland, the country where they are 'clean' fanatics.

There are three seperate vehicles that come down the pavements every morning to remove rubbish (Never IS any), wash the pavement and then rinse it, there's the maching that stops at roadsigns, washes them, then moves on, And when you go visit people, inside the front door are these large canvas slipper type things to put over your shoes so that you don't leave a speck of dirt on the floor!

Real Swiss slipper overshoes ready for visitors to wear before entering the house!

So I dare not leave the car park with dirt on Thunderbolt, as I have no idea what the fine would be.

I have to confess it is difficult to work out what you are showing and then compare but from what I can see it looks OK.

My powers of explanation cocked-up, i try again...

On all the stuff I've had, the chain guard curves over the top of the chain and then down in front of the chain, so hiding the top part of the chain from view and protecting your leg.

But mine curves over the top and then down the back between the chain and the wheel, so the chain is visible from the side of the bike, not hidden by the guard.

ok, here is Tornado's chain, it is on the opposite side of the bike. The guard covers the top part of the chain, and is nearest the riders leg.

Image

This is the EFI, the guard is behind the chain, next to the wheel spokes not between the chain and my leg, also it seems to be exactly the same shape on both bikes, not a mirror image for left and right side fitting.

So I was wondering if this was the wrong part, or do all the Woodsmans have it?

Can you see the top chain run on this woodsman?? Looks like you have one from a left side drive … As much use as an ejector seat in a helicopter..

Just be careful if you wear a long dispatch riders type coat.. gwilly
