Just took delivery yesterday of a 2003 Sixty5, and thought there wasn't much compression, though it would start. Had a look today and one thing I did was block off the pipe take off on the inlet manifold, as the clean air and filter had been removed by previous owner.

Then I found the adjuster on the decompressor was broken so started to dismantle it to remove the unit. unfortunately I pulled out the split pin before removing the unit, and yes, the valve fell into the cylinder!

Another order to boost Mr Hitchcocks coffers!

Head off tomorrow. Not even ridden it yet!!

You could try fishing it out with a magnet or some such before you rip the head off.... just a thought.

Don't have a magnet or anything to fit down the hole, however, its still chucking it down with rain &snow, so i'll get started in the garage. I have rebuilt a couple of Enfields before, so not expecting any trouble, apart from freeing the head joint, I guess that's what you mean by be damn carefull!
