its not impossible as most things arnt but you,ll need more than barrell and piston if it was so easy noone would have a 350 imho buy a 500 engine probably cheaper than uprating the 350 although some will say get one of the other guys his name fails me 450 kits atb paul

Gravelrash,
it is a very simple conversion, all you need is a pair of 500 flywheels, 500 conrod and big end bearing,500 barrel, piston, head, pushrods, plug the existing cases where the barrel studs screw in, then move the stud holes out to suit the 500 barrel and also open out the throat of the cases, as Paul says anything is possible

You can get a 450 conversion done - not cheap though.
450 conversion
Probably cheaper to swop bikes or at least engines. The 500 does fit on the 350 primary/gearbox OK

--------- and if you DO manage to convert it to 500cc then it'll cost you more ROAD TAX as well!!---------------- I'm thinking of "down-rating" my 500 to a 350 for that very reason---if you get my drift ??

from gravelrash to all that replied to my query.

thanks very much fellas great detail, I had been comparing specs in the workshop manual which made it appear relatively easy. As you all suggest finding 500 engine would be best, problem is I live in Corfu and Enfields are not common.

Alan, is it worth it just to save £20.00 a year?

Gravelrash,
The 350 is a lot nicer engine unless you want out-and-out power. There is quite a lot you can do to it to increase the umph without resorting to changing the engine.
